SUMMARY

During my 20+ years as a VFX Producer and Supervisor I have consistently been able fulfill the Director’s vision while maintaining the Producer’s budget. I am well versed in all aspects of fx and am able to recommend the right methodology to achieve the best result. From awe inspiring practical effects to far reaching visuals utilizing the latest in digital imagery, I can bring it to today’s filmmakers.

My confidence comes from my many years of experience as both a client side supervisor, and by running a large VFX facility for a motion picture studio. These roles have enabled me to see the vfx challenge from all sides and propose the most creative and affordable solution. When visual effects costs for films and commercials are spiraling beyond the initial budget, it is more important than ever to carefully plan the budget and scope of the work during pre-production.

I have been fortunate to work in all budgets and genres ranging from $1–100 million. My experience as Head of VFX for a motion picture studio, building multiple facilities around the world, has given me a deep understanding of the challenges working worldwide. Working with vendors around the world, utilizing the best talent for the project, protects the producers from cost overruns, and ensures the director’s vision is not compromised. I have guided projects from being greenlit to final delivery. From initial breakdown and budgeting, design and filming, to final post, all steps are managed by myself closely.

As a client side supervisor, I am keenly aware of issues that can arise during filming and can offer an “on the spot” solution, insuring confidence in the director and production with the vfx department. As VFX Department head, it is my commitment to protect the Producer’s budget and Director’s vision. I offer tested experience managing the whole VFX process as an HoD.

BIOGRAPHY

Fueled by a lifelong interest in special effects work, noted Visual Effects Producer and Supervisor Scott Coulter has over three decades of experience in this field, having worked on more than 200 films which have integrated nearly every conceivable aspect of Special and Visual Effects. His credits span across numerous feature films, including "The Expendables", "Conan the Barbarian", "Dogma", "My Favorite Martian", "The Crow", and many others.

Scott Coulter began his lengthy film career as a production assistant on George Romero’s classic horror anthology, “Creepshow”. As his first love was special effects makeup and monsters, he worked on many FX films of the era - "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master", "Pet Sematary", and many that are now considered cult classics, "Street Trash", "Slime City", and "Class of Nuke'em High" among them.   While working on "The Crow", Coulter saw Jurassic Park, and was struck by the power of the groundbreaking digital visual effects. Seeing the writing on the wall, Scott immediately took a six-month sabbatical, learning everything he could about computer animation. He then began to supervise & produce Visual Effects.

In 2001, Coulter opened Worldwide FX, to meet the visual effects needs of Millennium Films.  He further expanded the facility in 2009, by opening a second branch in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Over 15 years, the companies have serviced hundreds of films, including "Olympus Has Fallen, "Automata", "The Mechanic 1&2”.

He returned to Independent VFX Work in 2016, overseeing mainstream films - "The Belko Experiment" and "Speed Kills"
